Shaykh ʿAbdullāh Al-Bukhārī (حفظه الله) said:
“Acting by knowledge is a proof that Allāh, the Majestic and Most High, wants good for His slave — with Allāh’s permission.
And as Al-Khaṭīb Al-Baghdādī, may Allāh have mercy on him, said: ‘Knowledge is a tree, and action is [its] fruit.’
What do you think if there is a tree without fruits? It has no benefit. And the existence of a fruit without a tree cannot be imagined. So, they [i.e., knowledge and action] are inseparable.
And as Imām Sufyān bn ʿUyaynah, may Allāh have mercy on him, said: ‘If knowledge does not benefit, it harms.’”
