From the calamity that has befallen the Muslim youths of nowadays is that they do not bother to know who they take knowledge from, once they see anyone who claims for himself, Islam, Sunnah or knowledge, or he dresses like a Shaykh, they do not bother to know whether he is truly upon sunnah or not, and they take from him. This is wrong and it is not from the ways of the Salaf.
Muhammad bn Sireen said: “Indeed, this knowledge is religion, so carefully consider from whom you take your religion” ¹
Shaykh Sālih Fawzān Al Fawzān حفظه الله تعالى said: “Nowadays so many people claim to be callers to Islam, but if you look at their Methodology and conducts, you find them in complete opposition to Islam.”²
Consideration should be given to realities, not claims or names. A person may claim to be upon sunnah, like the terrorists – ISIS and Boko-Haram – do, and that doesn’t make them be upon the sunnah. To claim the name is cheap but consideration is given to reality. A person may call himself a tree but that doesn’t mean he is a tree. What is upon the person striving to be upon sunnah is to confirm if the person he is about to take from is truly upon sunnah and it is not permissible for him to take from innovators.
Shaykh Zayd Al-Madkhali [رحمه الله] said: “Verily, the Salaf al-Sālih would reject the testimony of the people of innovation, and they would warn from sitting with them and taking knowledge from them because they call to evil”³
From the discreet innovators that people do not know is Assim Alhakeem, an Internet Shaykh popularly known for savage replies on Twitter. And we will see some of his deeds that are in opposition to sunnah for the readers to see his reality.
In the below video of Assim Alhakeem, he was asked about a known terrorist, Ahmad Musa Jibril, one who has severally been convicted on several terror-related offences and is known for luring the youths to terrorism. Instead of Assim to explain the affair of this terrorist to the questioner and save him from the deviation of terrorism by warning him against taking from the books and tapes of Ahmad Musa Jibril, but Assim put his cap of ignorance and bad manners by saying it is inappropriate to ask about individuals on live T.V.
Dear beloved readers, if we do not warn against terrorists who have invited many to kill women and children around the world publicly on live TV, who should we warn against?
Isn’t it that warning against such a terrorist on live TV make more people beware of him and his dangers?
Wouldn’t that clear the doubt of non-muslims who believe that all Muslims are terrorists?!
Despite much goodness in warning against the deviants, the ‘fake sheikh’ deemed it to be improper on live TV. Allah warned against Deviants in the Qurān and mentioned their names, Allah mentioned the names of Iblis, Fir’awn, Qārun, Abu Lahab and the likes. The prophet ﷺ, who is wiser regarding Da’wah more than anyone alive warned against Deviants and mentioned their names, the Sahābah and the pious predecessors did the same. What kept Assim from saving the young man from the claws of the wicked terrorist?!
Out of wickedness, Assim claimed that there’s no usefulness in asking questions like that because it may lead to tarnishing the terrorist’s image, if the image of a wicked terrorist is not tarnished, whose image should be?!
Poor Assim claimed that asking about individuals has no use for the Ummah and this is indeed a deviation from him because warning against misguided individuals will save people from following him into his misguidance.
Shaykh Sālih Fawzān Al Fawzān حفظه الله تعالى said: “Refuting the opposer in matters of the Religion is an obligatory matter so that the truth is not obscured by the falsehood.”⁴
If people do not ask about the one they want to take from, they wouldn’t know whether he is a person of sunnah or a person of innovation, they wouldn’t know whether they should take from him or not.
Yasir Qadhi is among the people misleading the youths of today with his several obnoxious claims against Islam, the Quran and Sunnah (He once referred to the story of Yajuj the Majuj as fiction and some Sharee’ah punishments as bizarre. To know more about Yasir Qadhi, click here

Yet the fake Sheikh referred to spreading Refutation that saves people from their web of dangerous ideology as a waste of time that doesn’t benefit the Ummah. He hypocritically claimed that a Muslim should focus on spreading the true message of Islam as if warning people against people that will destroy their Hereafter is not from the true message of Islam. Does Assim not read the Quran and see how it is filled with warning against dangerous individuals, nations and ideologies?
Dear honoured readers, May Allah bless you, don’t be deceived by the hypocrisy of Assim when he referred to asking about a deviant as tarnishing his image and useless for the Ummah, this same Assim reviles scholars of sunnah like Shaykh Rabee’ as you can see in the picture below.

Here is another screenshot where he disparaged teachers at Salafi Publications, those who have been praised by the likes of Shaykh Rabee’ and Shaykh Ubayd.

We ask Assim if talking about a terrorist on live TV is tarnishing his image, what is this you are doing with honoured images of scholars? Have you forgotten that the flesh of scholars is a poison?
This is double standard O Assim, you referred to refuting a deviant terrorist as not having any benefit for the ummah. What benefit does disparaging the people of sunnah has?
Wallahi, by this you have shown your colour to be part of the innovators, Imām Abu ‘Uthman Ismail As Sābūni said:
“The sign of innovation are clear to see upon its people. The foremost of their signs is their severe enmity and contempt towards the carriers of the narrations of the prophet ﷺ and belittlement of them”⁵
Imām Abu Hātim said: “From the signs of Ahlul-Bid‛ah is their reviling the People of Narrations.”⁶
Another fact that pointed to the ill manners of Assim Alhakeem is how he responded when he was shown what Shaykh Muqbil said about Sālih Al Munajjid and how he abused the mother of another person in the below screenshot.

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Ās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “It is one of the major sins when a man abuses his parents.” It was asked: “Would a man ever abuse his parents?” He replied: “Yes. He abuses the father of another man, who in return abuses his father, and he abuses his mother, and so the latter abuses the former’s mother. ⁷
Beware of learning from a person of ill manners like Assim Alhakeem.
Assim Alhakeem is also known for promoting and mingling with innovators, and this is a red flag and a sign of deviation. No person of sunnah would be comfortable to be in the gathering of popular innovators like Mufti Menk (To know more about Mufti Menk, click here) and Zakir Naik (To know more about Zakir Naik, click here and here) like you can see in the below pictures.

Assim Alhakeem didn’t stop at mingling with these innovators, he also recommend them and their classes to people. Like he recommended Mufti Menk in the picture below

…. and the classes of Zakir Naik in the picture below.

Taking a step further to expose himself, Assim Alhakeem teaches the book of a known innovator upon the Methodology of the khawarij, Abdul Aziz At Tarifi, the one who permitted rebelling against rulers and also did so. Here is Assim teaching his book.

From the affairs that also exposed Assim Alhakeem is his teaching on the platforms of innovator, like he does on Peace TV owned by Zakir Naik, ZAD Academy owned by Sālih Al Munajjid and IOU owned by Bilal Phillips.
There are a lot of warning from the pious predecessors regarding accommodating innovators, sitting with them and promoting them.
The prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever innovates or accommodates an innovator then upon him is the curse of Allah, His Angels and the whole of mankind.” ⁸
Abū Hurayrah radiyallaahu ’anhu said: “The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said, ‘A person is upon the Religion of his friend. So let each one of you look to whom he keeps as a friend.” ⁹
Said al-Awzaa’ee rahimahullaah said: “Whomsoever can hide his innovation from us, he cannot hide whom he befriends.” ¹⁰
Al – Fudayl ibn ‘Iyaad said: “Whichever man someone comes to asking for advice and he directs him to an innovator then he has acted deceitfully towards Islam, and beware of entering upon a person of innovation since they prevent from the truth.” ¹¹
Innovators who hide under the garb of sunnah and knowledge are more dangerous than the ones who do not claim sunnah at all and carry their banners of misguidance publicly like the known Sufi callers around. The one who hides under the garb of sunnah launches inconspicuous attacks against sunnah and make its ignorant adherents deviate without anyone suspecting, this is easy for him because the ignorants who take from him would think they are learning sunnah.
Assim Alhakeem is among the green snakes under the green grass who lures the Muslim youth to the path of the Khawarij, and he does this in many ways. Assim Alhakeem calls to Sālih Al Munajjid, Sālih Al Munajjid calls to Sayyid Qutb, and Sayyid Qutb calls to rebelling against rulers. In another way, Sālih Munajjid calls to Abdul Aziz At Tarifi and teach his book, while Abdul Aziz At Tarifi calls to rebellion against the rulers. Also, don’t forget how he dodge from answering the question against the one who asked about a terrorist. This is how deviants lure people to the path of misguidance.
Assim himself, when asked if there’s a consensus of scholars against rebelling against rulers, he lied and distorted the truth to the questioner by saying that there’s no consensus of scholars against rebelling against rulers while in truth, all scholars of sunnah are against rebelling against rulers as it is proven from what Allah revealed and what the pious predecessors were upon. Anyone who permits rebelling against rulers is not from the people of sunnah. This matter is a basis of sunnah that anybody that opposes it exit the fold of sunnah.
Ibn Abbas reported that the prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever sees from his leader something that he dislikes, then let him be patient with him because whosoever separates from the jamā’ah (i.e. the body of Muslims in a country) even by a handspan, and then dies in that condition, he will die the death of pre-Islamic ignorance (jāhiliyyah).” ¹²
Imām Ahmad bn Hanbal said: “It is not permissible for anyone among the people to fight the ruler and nor to rise against him. And whosoever does that is an innovator, upon other than the Sunnah and upon other than the Straight Path.” ¹³

When the affairs of innovators, deviants and misguided callers are clear to you, it is upon you not to take knowledge from them, praise them or promote them. You should beware of their dangers and warn others against them.
We ask Allah for safety.
