Questioner:
Eminent Shaykh, we thank you for your kindness in answering the questions of some Moroccan pilgrims, and I have some questions, are Nawāfil allowed immediately after Sālātul Jumu’ah?
Answer:
The sunnah is to observe four (raka’ah) after Jumu’ah, the prophet ﷺ says: *Whosoever is observing Salaah after jumuah should observe four ( raka’ah) after it.* [1] And if you are to observe Salaah after jumu’ah, you should observe four, and the sunnah is that he observes two Tasleem after jumu’ah, this is the best. And if he observes one Tasleem, it is sufficient, but four is the best, it is authentically (narrated)from him ﷺ that he use to observe two raka’ah in his house after the Jumu’ah. But his commandment is weightier and he has commanded with four, so his commandment is weightier. So the sunnah and the best is to observe four (raka’ah), whether in the masjid or in his house, (making it) two Tasleem after jumu’ah.
