Questioner:
How do we deal with the one who swears that he is not amongst the Muslim Brotherhood despite the fact that his actions and ideology is the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood?
Shaykh Rabee’ bn Hadi al-Madkhali:
If he swears, despite our doubt in his honesty, because they are people of pretence and lies, and they swear, and he will attest to the fact that he is not a Quṭbī nor an Ikhwānī, at the Ka’bah. These individuals were cultivated upon lies and they do not wage war against their opposers except with lies, they have no evidence with them. Nonetheless, say to him: “Put forward proofs to support what you said. Tackle the Muslim Brotherhood and warn against them.” So if he refuses, he is one of them. If he refuses, say to him: “I believe you, but come on, tread the path of the righteous predecessors. The predecessors were united upon the obligation of warning against the people of misguidance, so clarify then! Warn (against them). If you are a Salafī, then tread upon the methodology of the righteous predecessors in clarification and elucidation.” So if he clarifies and criticizes (them), then we believe him totally. But if he refuses, then he is from them. Do you know this? This is the (right) method.
