May Allah be benevolent to you. This (questioner) is making a specific request.
He says: We want a piece of advice for myself and my wife – we are present here in the congregation – regarding obedience, and marital rights, and giving excuses (to each other), and goodness to each other and having mutual love, perhaps Allah might benefit us with it. May Allah reward you with good.
Shaykh ‘Ubayd bn ‘Abdillāh al-Jābirī:
It is compulsory for the couple to firstly know that indeed, both of them are a trust which its companion is responsible for on the day of resurrection.
And that Allah will surely ask him about whatever oppression he does to his partner regarding his right.
So each of them should fulfill the rights of the other, as Allah the Mighty and Majestic, ordered.
Secondly, (there should be) tolerance – in affairs that can be tolerated – and pardon.
