Shaykh ʿArafāt bn Ḥasan Al-Muḥammadī
He [i.e., the questioner] says: “[Give us] a brief biography of your Shaykh, Al-ʿAllāmah ʿUbayd Al-Jābirī. We hear him being belittled a lot. And immediately a deviant deviates, he begins reviling him.”
Shaykh ʿUbayd bn ʿAbdillāh Al-Jābirī is from the major scholars that we know for knowledge, virtue, sound memorization, and the fear of Allāh.
We studied under him a lot and we benefitted from him and read [books] to him.
And he is from the scholars that lived in and are still in Madinah (the City) of Allāh’s Messenger, may he be extolled and granted peace.
And he was a teacher in the Islāmic University. And he studied under major scholars and memorized the Qurʾān during his childhood, despite him being blind.
Allāh took his two eyes while he was about 2 or 3 years of age. That is, he was still small. May Allāh preserve him.
However, blindness and lack of sight did not hinder him from seeking knowledge.
He sought knowledge, memorized, travelled to the scholars, and studied under them and read to them.
And he is from the scholars of Madīnah.
And he has authored many books, and all praise and favour are due to Allāh.
And the latest book of his that will be published is in 20 volumes. And it is an explanation of Mukhtaṣar Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim.
Al-Mundhirī, the renowned Shāfiʿī scholar authored a book in which he summarized Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim. (He is) Zakī Ad-Dīn. May Allāh have mercy on him. He passed away in the year 656H, in the 7th century.
He authored a summary of Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim and Shaykh [ʿUbayd] explained it in 20 volumes.
He also explained many books that have been published. And he is still preoccupied with knowledge despite him having passed the 8th decade of his lifetime. That is, he’s close to 90.
And he still teaches, reads, and authors. And he is from the well grounded scholars. May Allāh preserve him.
And this amount suffices. May Allāh extol Muḥammad and his household…
