The last question from our sisters from Libya:
Is it permissible for a woman to pray loudly in Salaah that should be prayed loudly, when she is sure that there is no strange man around that will hear her? And what is the evidence for this?
Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz bn ʿAbdillāh bn Bāz
Allah ordained for his slaves that they should recite loudly at (Salātul) Fajr, and the first and second (rakaah) of ‘Isha and Maghrib.
And this is general for men and women, because legislations are general except for the ones specified by evidence for man or for woman.
Allah ordained that we recite loudly at (Salātul) Fajr and the first and second (rakaah) of Maghrib and the first and second (rakaah) of ‘Isha.
The woman also recites loudly in a way that benefits her and those around her. And if there are strange men around her, it is better that she does not recite loudly.
Because the men may be put to trial by her voice. It is better that she does not recite loudly. And it is like that for Talbiyyah (Saying “Labayka Allahuma Labayk… “) at Hajj and ‘Umrah, if there are men around her, it is better she does not say it loudly and there is no problem if she says it loudly, but it is better that she does not say it loudly.
