Many of those who are supporting Sunday Igboho and Yorùbá Nation know that their means is not the right path to rectification, they are only frustrated by the level of insecurity and poverty in the country.
It is good that we start preaching to people that Hunger and Fear are punishments from Allah, Allah sends both as punishment to people who do not obey Him. Allah says,
“And Allah puts forward the example of a township (Makkah), that dwelt secure and well content; its provision coming to it in abundance from every place, but it (its people) denied the Favours of Allah (with ungratefulness). So Allah made it taste the extreme of hunger (famine) and fear, because of that (evil, i.e. denying Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) which they (its people) used to do.”¹
The above example that Allah brought in this Ayah is the township of Makkah, after Allah had punished them with Hunger and Fear, they did not rectify themselves by going into more sins and transgressions, they rectified their affairs with Tawheed, by not associating partners with Allah, by following Quran and Sunnah, and we can all see how peaceful and bountiful Makkah is today.
Allah also mentions that
“And if the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwa (piety), certainly, We should have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they belied (the Messengers). So We took them (with punishment) for what they used to earn (polytheism and crimes, etc.).”²
Nigerians complain of Hunger and Insecurity, and yet we are stretching our hands and money to a show that is as filthy as BBNaija, how do we want Allah to raise this punishment from us when we are increasing in crimes and sins like this?
Nigerians want permanent solutions to Insecurity and Hunger, but they want to create a Nation that is based on Polytheism and Magic, How do we want Allah to help us raise these punishments from us when we are taking what angers Allah most as our solution?
It is obvious that the Odùduwà Nation is being spearheaded by Mushrikūn, those who associate partners with Allah and boast of Magic and Talisman publicly. How does a Muslim in his right senses support this? And if Odùduwà Nation is created, how does a Muslim live in a Nation that is based on revival of idols and false gods? Is a Muslim not seeing this as spreading of mischief on the land and the highest form of being ungrateful to Allah?
It is high time we looked at providing solutions to our affair and we start informing people that Odùduwà Nation is not for Muslims.
The Qur’an has solutions to our national problems, but the only issue is that we do not read it, ponder on it and implement lessons from it. If we should be implementing what Quran has brought for us, we would be in peace and bounty. Allah says,
“And if only they had acted according to the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), and what has (now) been sent down to them from their Lord (the Quran), they would surely have gotten provision from above them and from underneath their feet. There are from among them people who are on the right course, but many of them do evil deeds.”³
Muslims should go back to Allah. If Allah is pleased with us and He is ready to shower us with peace, mercy, security and provisions from Him, no government will be able to stop that, no matter how evil they are.
And if Allah is set to punish us with Hunger, Famine, Hostility and Insecurity, no government will be able to stop that punishment, no matter how good or pious they are.
Organizing protests against the government and fighting for a Shirk-based Nation is adding more to our sins and inviting more punishments. We should go back to Allah and seek for His forgiveness, seeking forgiveness for our sins and turning a new leaf will make Allah shower His Mercy and Provision on us. Allah says,
“I said (to them): ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; () ‘He will send rain to you in abundance; () ‘And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.”⁴
The rectification starts with everyone rectifying what is between himself and Allah. We should all think of areas we are trespassing the boundaries of Allah individually and we take steps in rectifying it. We should all seek for Allah’s forgiveness for things we have done in the past and we should determine to live upon Tawheed, Sunnah, Righteousness, Honesty, Commanding of righteousness and Forbidding evil. When we are good individually, the goodness will spread and the society will be good collectively.
We ask Allah to forgive our sins, rectify our leaders and raise away His punishment from us.
